Bronzers are meant to give you a back-from-the beach, sun-kissed
glow without the harmful effect of sun tanning. Unlike a tanning lotion, a
bronzer does not leave a permanent residue on your face and also comes off
easily. It comes in powder, liquid, stick and bead form. Renowned make-up
artist Vidya Tikari shares the secret behind getting the bronzed look right.

Try out these different types and choose one that will suit your skin as well as the season. It is very important to pick a bronzer that is right for your skin tone. Since bronzers come with a shine, you need to pick deeper tones-anything lighter will make your face look more shiny and therefore rounder. Go for one that is a shade or two darker than your natural skin tone; this will give you a lovely tan.
Remember, bronzers generally have a strong brown undertone, so don't pick one that is too dark or you may end up looking a bit shabby. Before applying a bronzer, you will also need to contour your face with dark pressed powder in shades two to three times darker than your skin tone. Apply it under your cheekbones to bring about a sculpted look. Now apply the bronzer in a semi-circular arc from the eyebrow to the upper cheek.
Remember to darken your brows a bit with a brown-based mascara. Just a hint of bronzer is usually enough. Too much can make you look like a baked bun rather than a bronzed beauty. Use a wide, fluffy brush for even distribution and blend well. Begin with a light application and apply more only if required.
